Do you love MINERAL-based makeup? If you’re new to the mineral-makeup scene – welcome to the best of both worlds! Mineral makeup offers both beautiful, natural coverage AND chemical-free formulations that won’t irritate your skin. Beauty brands ranging from low-end drugstore brands (ie. L’Oreal) to high-end department store brands (ie. Bare Minerals) )are jumping onto the bandwagon offering concealers, foundations, blushes and eyeshadows, so you have almost as many options are traditional makeup. Over the past decade, mineral makeup has developed a big fan base of women who RAVE about its benefits. I personally love how it blends into my skin so naturally yet provides amazing coverage - my spots and dark undereye area are greatly diminished!
PROS: Amazing for girls who have sensitive, easily aggravated skin since it does not contain any harsh chemicals, fragrances or synthetic dyes. Mineral makeup also contains a higher concentration of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which provides has a calming effect for your existing acne or spots. I love mineral makeup for the naturally, beautiful coverage and its covers my dark under-eye circles! Versatile, switch application method. For light coverage, use a brush….medium to heavy coverage, kabuki brush or sponge.
CONS: the application and jar containers can get messy. All mineral makeup is in loose powder form and requires a makeup brush for application. Spillage and makeup counter messiness are common problems. It also takes a bit more time to blend into the skin, than regular makeup – something to consider if you’re one to be rushing out the doors in the morning! Most mineral products are sold in individual containers that creates excess bathroom clutter. It also isn’t compact for travel.
Despite these cons, I’m a big fan of mineral makeup and have nailed down my morning makeup routine to 4 minutes flat! It just takes a bit of practise.
