PRODUCT REVIEW: Chanel Hydramax+ Active Moisture Boost Cream

This weekend is Mother's Day and in honour of my mom, i thought I'd dedicate a post about the most important beauty lesson my mom instilled in me, Moisturize Your Skin.  i still remember watching my mom apply her moisturizer at night in her bathroom.  My mom put such emphasis on the importance of good skin care and protecting your skin. "No matter how much makeup you put on, it won't look good if your skin isn't in good condition" she'd say to me.  Thanks Mom, I'm appreciating your lessons 20 years later.

Last night after washing and toning my face, i reached for an old favourite, Chanel Hydramax+ Moisture Boost Cream ($72 USD) . When i woke up this morning, I was reminded why i LOVE LOVE LOVE this moisturizer (yes, it deserves repeatng 3x!).  My skin felt smooth, hydrated, supple and almost.... glowing :)  Dry patches were gone.  Redness around nose and cheeks were calmed. I loved how this cream sunk in and absorbed into my skin. No oily-filmy feeling i get sometimes with heavier creams that just sit on my skin. All this after 1-time use! Chanel also has a sister product or supplement they promote along with the moisturizer - Chanel Hydramax Serum ($82 USD).  It's good and hydrating as well, but you'll go through the serum a lot quicker.  The moisturizer lasts you much longer and is a better bang for your buck.  If i had to choose one, the moisturizer is really all you need.  Both moisturizer and serum contain Rosewater that smells ridiculously good.  A light, refreshing citrus-y scent that i never tire of.

Chanel has a whole suite of products in their Hydramax line, including tinted moisturizer  ($62 USD) and face mask ($50 USD)  The face mask wasn't life-changing, but still a good mask.  For the price-point, i'm not sure if i would purchase it again.  Definitely a splurge for what it does for your skin.
Sometimes I find high-end brands a jip and expensive just for the brand.  Chanel Hydramax+ Moisture Boost Cream ($72 USD) is totally worth it for me. Typically I pay at least $50 for night-time face moisturizer.  For a bit more money, I get an amazing moisturizer that leaves my skin looking like i got a spa facial :)

Have oily skin?  Chanel Hydramax+ Moisture Boost also comes in gel version ($72 USD) as well.
